Archie was our first Flat-Coat and he was an exciting dog to own because he did everything well. I wanted a versatile dog and I got one in him, we tried it all. To bad agility wasn't around then, he would have been good at it because of his dynamic athleticism. He was an all out kind of dog and that gave him great style in the field. He was also a phenomenal marker, something he was born with and which I think has been handed down.
One interesting fact is that Archie was the first bench champion to complete a Hunt Test title. We went to the first hunt test there was, June 8, 1985 in Wichita, Kansas. Coincidentally his AKC Junior Hunter certificate is dated June 8, 1986.
I have often thought I retrospect that Archie should have been shown as a special. He had that outgoing personality and confidence, along with a love of people. He was always sure that everyone had come just to see him and people did remember him.
