Dawson is a beautiful, typey, medium sized dog, with a lovely head and clean movement.  He has been very successful in the show ring, presented by his owner, Shelly Spencer Marx.  He has a Best in Show win to his credit and over 50 Group placements.  He  won a JAM at the Kentucky Specialty, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was Best in Specialty at the Colorado National In 2001 under judge Houston Clark. At the 2005 and 2006 Specialties, Dawson received JAMs from the veteran class.
